7 weeks!

Baby's now the size of a blueberry!
Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about one hundred new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

How far along? 7 weeks.
Due Date: August 14, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: No change
Maternity clothes? Not yet... but thinking about getting pants... my jeans were always tight and now I can't wear my belt comfortably.
Sleep: Normal
Best moment this week: Telling everyone we're pregnant!! :)
Movement: None.
Food cravings: It depends on the minute... changes a lot!
Food aversions: There is a cream cheese dip at a restaurant that I loved... now the thought of it makes me feel like I'm going to "toss my cookies"
Gender: Unknown.
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? In... no change.
What I miss: Deli sandwiches - Subway, Quizno's :( I like the cold sandwiches, not hot ones
What I am looking forward to: Seeing friends for New Years! :)
Milestones: Week 7 and so far no vomiting! :) Let's hope this keeps up. (so far so good!) Going shopping today for after Christmas sales... might get some baby stuff!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! :)

I've so been looking forward to showing you this picture! :D

Please, if interested, read the previous posts... there are a couple weeks of blogging that I've been waiting to publish. It is from the first little bit that I knew I was pregnant!

Yea, it is still new to me... :) But I've known longer than you! :)

Saturday I will be 7 weeks pregnant... I have an estimated delivery date of 8/14/10.
Come back for the "7w" post!

My first Dr appt is 1/5 - to meet w/ the nurse and go over history (boring but necessary)
My next appt is 1/19 - to meet the Dr and maybe hear the heartbeat!! If we do get to hear it I think we'll get to take a picture of the baby with us.

Welcome to the fun, crazy, emotional world of "Pregnant Amy"!

~Mama :)

6w 12/19/09

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

How far along? 6 weeks.
Due Date: August 14, 2010
Total weight gain/loss: Back down to my start weight... I know I need to lose weight though. I'm sure eating so healthy has finally kicked in and affected my weight.
Maternity clothes? No... but I'm thinking about them. My clothes are a little tight from bloating & swelling.
Sleep: Normal - can't sleep on my stomach!
Best moment this week: Mailing Christmas gifts to the in-laws to tell them we are pregnant! (and we've started our weekly pictures! I bought a shirt that should fit all the way through the pregnancy so we'll really get to see my belly grow!)
Movement: None.
Food cravings: Not too much... but I'm not craving as much sweets.
Food aversions: Random things through the day - someone was eating something at work that smelled awful! - but I wasn't going to stick around to see what it was.
Gender: Unknown.
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? In... no change.
What I miss: Deli sandwiches - Subway, Quizno's :( I like the cold sandwiches, not hot ones
What I am looking forward to: Making all of these pregnancy blog entries public on Christmas and calling a different Dr for an appointment, maybe I'll get to hear a heartbeat before Feb 1st!
Milestones: Week 6 and so far no vomiting! :) Let's hope this keeps up.

Emotional Rollercoaster!

Talk about weepy!
I had plans today to go visit one of my professors from SAU... but my car wouldn't start! Geoff had to literally drive around our whole front yard just to get the cars close enough to reach the jumper cables! We did manage, however, to get my car running again! :D YAY
When did I lose it, you ask? When my dad broke the news that my car might not be safe enough to drive to Jackson... my mom explained that it could stall in the middle of the highway (knowing that helped a little)... but I can't drive Geoff's car, I don't feel like I can see out well enough. :( So I didn't get to go... ~insert waterworks~
Then I watched 2.5 Rudolph movies in a row (hour each I think) and got teary at points. *sigh* Let the fun begin. :P

5 Weeks! - 12/12/09

Your Baby: Week 5

Your embryo (looking kind of like a tadpole) is starting to form major organs (heart, kidney, liver, stomach) and systems (nervous, circulatory, digestive).

How far along? 5 weeks! - Our baby is an appleseed!

Maternity clothes? No

(12/9/09, 4w4d)
Tonight I was at work and I was sure I smelled pickles! I asked someone if they did... she said no! hmm... O:) Cravings already?

I had pickles dipped in cream cheese for dinner... I should probably go find something else to eat so I don't get a stomach ache!

This is from last night... Can't argue with digital!

Positive test

This morning... I woke up with knots in my stomach. Today? This was testing day.
The test I took required waiting TEN minutes... the longest 10 minutes ever. I convinced myself that there was no way the test would be positive. I've seen enough negative tests that I didn't want to get my hopes up.
7:15
7:16
7:17
7:18
7:19
7:20
7:21
7:22
7:23
7:24
7:25!
Time to go check. I looked at the test in the faint light of the plug-in night light... That sure looked like a line... but no, it can't be!
I closed the door and turned on the bathroom light to get a better look... There was a LINE! I quickly did two more tests just to be sure... that 10 minutes went a lot faster but with no less knots. TWO POSITIVES!!
I'd gotten THREE positives... wow. :)

This is for real?! :D Time to wake up Geoff... 7:40 now... a little earlier than the 9am he wanted to get up but I'm sure he'll forgive me!

We're going to be PARENTS!

Nursery Idea #3

TURTLES!! :)
I think we've decided that no matter what gender baby we have, the room with be decorated with turtles!! The top of the room (the now-pink border) will be painted to look like an aquarium... it might stay pink if we get preggy with a girl but will be blue if it is a boy.

:) Isn't it cute?

Nursery Idea #1

I'm allowed to change my mind, right? I don't think I really want to know what it will all cost... I think I'll just take it as it comes like everybody else. :D

I did have a plan for what I wanted to do next... I don't think I want to do the slang either. Hmm...
I KNOW!!! O:) Nursery ideas... this sounds like great fun. Not floor plans. Just ideas. :D
Here's one:

I think this is super cute... OH! The room that will be the nursery? The "Watermelon Room" ... if we had a boy, we'd paint the pink part blue. :)

Listing upcoming things...

Okay... my next idea may take me longer to complete than I'd like... but that's okay, I've got at least three months to check all this out. (That's when we hope to start 'trying' ;-) )

I'm going to try and research how much the having of a baby will actually cost me.
~Check on Insurance: Where should I go to get them to pay? What % will they pay?
~Call the hospital: What is cost of traditional childbirth? (If they'll tell me) What about a difficult one? (maybe I won't ask this... just the typical, easy birthing. Yea.)
~Call Insurance with how much hospital charges and see what will be covered.

This could take a little while.

THEN, if I'm not out of time ;) - I'm going to decode some of the slang and shortcuts on websites... DH? Dear Husband. I know that one. :)

But, I can answer one of my questions right now... (yay for bcbsmi.com)
Pre&Postnatal Care - 100% of approved amount at in-network hospital YAY
Delivery & Nursery Care - 80% of approved amount after deductable ($1,000) at in-network hospital. (better than out of network 60%!)
Note on website... not entirely sure what it means: (This semi-private room is 80% after deductable)
"Semiprivate room - inpatient physician care, general nursing care, hospital services and supplies - unlimited days
Note: Maternity care and routine newborn nursery care during a mother's eligible hospital stay. Under federal law, we generally may not restrict benefits for any hospital length of stay in connection with childbirth for the mother or newborn child to less than: 48 hours following a vaginal delivery & 96 hours following a delivery by cesarean section"

"Numbers" & Fave #1

I'm such a "numbers person" - I attempt over and over to write budgets or even keep track of spending habits - to no avail! I lose sight of my goal everytime. What I am good at is what I call a 'snapshot' - I look at the last few months of our banking online and write a summary to see what we need in income in a month. Then I try to find ways to save so that I don't have to work a traditional job... working from home would be alright. I love looking for ways to save - even if currently unnecessary - current fave? Smartipants diapers!

Fave: Smartipants diapers The one thing I can't find that I really want to see is an online guide... I want to know how to make the different sizes. Seems to me, if I bought like 15... I'd be spending $200 ($40 for a set of 3) and they would last me quite a while... maybe even to potty training! Diapers for 2 years? Yikes. Costco sells diapers... the most in a package is in the size 1-2. 216 diapers for $40... according to most sites I need to plan on about 10 diaper changes in a day. That's about 22 days for $40... it would take less than 5 months to use $200... Maybe I will try cloth diapers.

"Change"

Recently I've been noticing that I crave change... I'm assuming that this is a step in the right direction for motherhood because I'm guessing that "Change" is the name of the game - change diaper, change shirt, change onsie, change direction, change size. Change. Good thing I think I want it, right?
